Golf: Jehangir snatches two-stroke lead

LAHORE: Salman Jehangir grabbed the lead as day two of the amateurs’ competition at the 28th Governor’s Cup Golf Tournament concluded yesterday.  Jehangir scored birdies on the second, eighth, ninth and 11th holes for an overall aggregate of eight-under par 137. Mohsin Anwar remained in contention, two strokes behind Jehangir in second place, with an overall aggregate of 139. In the senior amateurs category, Zubair Qayum occupied top spot on the leader-board, carding a 67 over 18 holes, with Shahid Izazullah (68) and Humayun Rashid (70) in pursuit. Meanwhile, Noori Zaman and Kara Alam established themselves as joint leaders in the ladies category at the close of day two. The final rounds of the championship will be played today.
