Crossing waters: 12 Indian fishermen arrested

Twelve Indian fishermen were arrested by Maritime Security Agency (MSA) for violating Pakistani waters, reported Express News on Saturday.

Two boats were also seized and the fishermen were handed to the Docks police for further investigation.

The MSA confirmed that the fishermen were Indian and were caught fishing in the exclusive economic zone of Pakistan.

Several Indian fishermen have been arrested by the MSA in the past for similar violations. Earlier, MSA said that the fishermen have been warned time and again to stay out of these waters, but were eager to exploit the rich fishing grounds at the Indus delta.

The civil society has been urging Pakistan and India to release these prisoners who are repeatedly picked up in the wrong waters.
