Five Sri Lankans to compete in Karachi

Five Sri Lanka tennis players will take part in United Bank Limited International Hard Court Tennis Championship that starts today in Karachi, the first time in three years that the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) is hosting an international event.


According to the event’s organising director Arif Qureshi, the event will also feature top national players, including Aqeel Khan, Jalil Khan and Yasir Khan, and will consist of men’s and women’s singles and doubles events, along with mixed doubles, veteran’s doubles, and singles events for boys’ under-18 and under-14.

“International players coming here to take part in events will improve the level of competition,” Qureshi told The Express Tribune. “This is going to be one of the biggest tennis events in the country, offering prize-money of Rs 1million.”
