Shot dead: Nephew of Urs Chandio killed

HYDERABAD: Yet another relative of Sindhi folk singer Urs Chandio was shot dead on Wednesday. Chandio’s 25-year-old nephew, Ikhtiar Chandio, was attacked by men on a motorbike near the Jamshoro railway station. He was a student of the Sindh University. Another student of the institution, Seema Ali, was also injured by the firing. The doctors at the Liaquat University Hospital said that her life is out of danger. About a year ago, Chandio’s brother, Mohabbat Chandio, and two nephews, Munir Chandio and Irshad Chandio, were killed in a raid conducted by the Kambar-Shahdadkot police in the Gharibabad area of Jamshoro. Mohabbat Chandio’s infant daughter and wife also died of shock shortly after the raid. According to unconfirmed reports, the deaths are the result of a political and land disputes between the Chandio and Choliani tribes of Warah. The case of the matter is being heard at the court.
