SHO Kahna Sarfraz Shah appeared before the court and insisted that the disputed area was part of the police station and that the mosque, named Anwar-e-Madina was built inside it.
The SHO accused the Imam of the mosque Maulana Akbar, who has filed the petition, of occupying the mosque and wrongly demanding the ownership of the police station building.
Petitioner Maulana Akbar contended that the mosque was constructed before the creation of Pakistan and that various authorities had decided to demolish it for the purpose of widening the Lahore-Kasur Road. He said that it was decided that the Auqaf department would construct the mosque on an alternate land.
The LHC sought a detailed report from the concerned inspector and the mosque administration and adjourned the hearing for December 22.
