3 trains stranded at Rohri by Sibi flooding

Three passenger trains were stranded for six hours at Rohri and Jacobabad as floodwater accumulated.

SUKKUR: Three passenger trains were stranded for six hours at Rohri and Jacobabad as floodwater had accumulated on the Dum Poli and Baktiarabad tracks near Sibi on Friday.

The Quetta-bound Jaffar Express and Quetta Express were forced to stop at the Rohri train station, while the Bolan Express was stranded at Jacobabad.

According to the Rohri station master, it was “very dangerous” to let the trains proceed to their destinations as the accumulated water was five to six feet deep.

The passengers waiting at the Rohri station had to stay without water and electricity, in the scorching heat and humidity.

After waiting for a couple of hours, the passengers began to protest, demanding ticket refunds.

The Railway authorities then refunded less than half the fare.

The passengers left the station and caught buses and coaches to complete their journey. Some passengers also left for their homes, cancelling their trips.
