KARACHI:

The Director General, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was put on notice for Jan 13, by a division bench of Sindh High Court here on Monday which also suspended a notification allowing promotion to a grade 14 Customs officer on deputation to FIA as Additional Director.

The bench comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Imam Bux Baloch earlier heard a petition filed by Inspector Ejaz, Siraj and 19 others who maintained that they were waiting for promotion since 2008.

Rana Ghulam Shabbir, employee of Pakistan Customs in BPS 14, came to FIA only eight months back on deputation. He was promoted as Additional Director through impugned notification which is in violation of all rules and promotion policy, the petitioners maintained.

The bench, after hearing the counsel for petitioners, suspended the operation of notification allowing promotion and posting to the respondent official and sought comments from DG FIA fixing Jan 13 as next date of hearing.
