Keeping Tabs: Influenza surveillance to start for Sindh

KARACHI: The Sindh health department embarked upon the Lab Surveillance Project to monitor influenza patients on Saturday, in collaboration with the National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad. This would help to keep an eye on the patterns of influenza and upper respiratory tract infections in Sindh, said Dr M Shakeel Aamir Mullick, the additional medical superintendent (general) and the focal person for the Influenza Surveillance Cell. He asked all hospitals to refer the cases of influenza to the influenza lab at the Civil Hospital Karachi for free sampling of patients.
