Police Encounter: Two hostages recovered, kidnapper killed

The police said that the kidnappers opened fire and they retaliated.

A kidnapper died and two hostages were also rescued after an encounter near Gulab Shar village.


A heavy contingent of police raided the area after a tip-off. The police said that the kidnappers opened fire and they retaliated.

The encounter went on for more than an hour after which Mehar Din Gurgej died and the hostages, police constable Ansar Ali and Yasir Ali, were released. Both the men belong to Punjab and were kidnapped more than a week ago. Gurgej was wanted for murder, kidnapping for ransom and highway robberies, the police added.
