Rights violation: Balochistan has a ‘dummy civilian govt’

Chairperson Baloch Human Rights Organisation appeals to apex court to take suo motu action.

Chairperson of Baloch Human Rights Organisation (BHRO) Nargis Baloch appealed to the apex court to take suo motu action of human rights violation by state agencies in Balochistan.


She lashed out at the role of Pakistan Army in the province saying: “Balochistan has been handed over to the army since former president Pervez Musharraf’s regime.  Today there is just a dummy civilian government in the province.”


“Security forces have killed hundreds of innocent Baloch scholars, doctors, students, lawyers and Baloch leaders. Hundreds of Baloch are still missing from various parts of the province while decomposed bodies of people kidnapped from various areas are found on a daily bases,” she said at a news conference at the Karachi Press Club on Friday.

Sometimes they (the state agencies) leave papers with decomposed bodies saying loyalty is with the state, Baloch said, adding that around 280 bodies have been found from in the province during the last 10 months.

She highlighted the names of some Baloch leaders, including Chairman Baloch National Movement (BNM) Ghulam Muhammad Baloch, Central Committee Member Lala Munir Baloch, Baloch Republican Party Secretary Sher Muhammad Baloch, Vice-Chairman BSO Azad Agha Abid Shah, Comrade Qayyum, advocate Zaman Marri, Advocate Ali Sher Kurd, Professor Saba Dashtyari and Dr Mazar Khan, who were killed.
