Justin Bieber to appear on ‘CSI’

He emerged out of nowhere to become a pin-up for adolescent girls worldwide, but the 16-year-old pop singer isn’t going anywhere. To capitalise on his millions of fans worldwide, “CSI” will feature Bieber on the season premiere this September.

According to Deadline.com, Bieber will be playing “Jason McCann, a troubled teen who is faced with a terrible decision regarding his only brother-a decision that leads him into an explosive confrontation with the CSIs.”

The show’s executive producers said in a statement: “Every 20 years, a phenomenon like Justin Bieber graces our world. We’d like to believe that the phenomenon of ‘CSI’ has had the same impact on popular culture. The opportunity to bring them together in the premiere is a great treat for our audience and all of its new viewers. This will be true event television.”

The singer’s popularity will undoubtedly lead to great television ratings for “CSI”. Bieber’s recent concerts have required extra security to control hordes of screaming fans who have gathered to see him.

But why is Bieber so popular? According to the Canadian singer, the reason is that “older people can appreciate my music because I really show my heart when I sing, and it’s not corny.”

Bieber isn’t the first musician to venture into television shows.

While “Entourage” - which is themed on the glitzy lifestyle of Hollywood - has had a slew of cameos from musicians, shows such as “How I Met Your Mother” and “30 Rock” have featured musicians as well. With shows such as “Glee”, which are themed on music genres and musicians, becoming extensively popular, there is a larger scope for musicians to appear on television shows.
