Political loyalties are up for grabs and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is not staying put.
The party has finalised a list of about 25 seasoned politicians from Sindh who are expected to join PML-N during party chief Nawaz Sharif’s visit to the province scheduled for December 10, sources told The Express Tribune.
According to party sources, out of a list of 25, a few politicians will join PML-N during Nawaz’s visit to Larkana while the rest are expected to join after a meeting with Nawaz in Karachi, scheduled for December 15.
Of prominent political families, the Mahars, Sherazis, Arbabs, Mazaris and Jatois have finalised their terms for joining the PML-N, sources said, adding that Shah Hussain Shah Sherazi from Thatta, Ali Mohammad Mahar and Arbab Ghulam Rahim from Ghotki, Saleem Jan Mazari, Shaukat Shah and Manzoor will join PML-N during Nawaz’s visit to Karachi.
Nawaz’s visit to Karachi is scheduled exclusively for negotiating with these families and to attend subsequent announcement ceremonies, sources added.
The PML-N chief is also expected to hold intense negotiations with Altaf Unar and former chief minister Sindh Liaquat Jatoi, in Karachi. If their reservations are addressed, sources say, they could announce their decision to join the PML-N as well.
Trip itinerary
According to Nawaz’s political secretary Dr Asif Kirmani, the PML-N chief will land on the Naudero helipad on December 10 and will be escorted to the venue of public gathering in Larkana. Nawaz will subsequently offer Fateha at former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s mausoleum, before returning to Lahore.
Nawaz’s Karachi visit, scheduled for December 15, was confirmed by other senior party leaders and former Sindh governor Mamnoon Hussain.
While Hussain confirmed that a list of seasoned politicians expected to join the party exists, he refused to divulge their names or share any details.
Nawaz has visited Sindh five times previously, including trips to Badin, Benazirabad, Sanghar, Sukkur and Khairpur during recent floods.
Larkana gathering
The party has dispatched Deputy Speaker Punjab Rana Mashhood to finalise the public gathering in Larkana and meet with Sindhi nationalists. Since this would be PML-N’s first-ever public gathering in Larkana, the party wants to restrict attendance to PML-N workers only, Mashhood said while talking to The Express Tribune.
He added that he has met with a host of nationalist leaders including Mumtaz and Ghinwa Bhutto, Jalal Mehmood Shah and Dr Qadir Magsi, to discuss strategies for the next general elections.
Mashhood said that around 70,000 people are expected to attend the PML-N rally in Larkana. The party intends to demonstrate to the people of Sindh that Larkana is not just a hub for the Pakistan Peoples Party, he added.

why would anyone have any hope for democracy in pakistan where people still flock to a party named for one man, by one man. once again, these old tired political brigades tease the people of pakistan with same grated bone and still (as some of the comments above) indicate, they flock to it like headless dogs. there will never be reform because the people have no understanding of what a democracy actually means on the individual level. you can abolish feudalism but you can't abolish feudal mindsets. please, those who still support this party, OPEN your eyes, you are being played through and through.
i think in current senario Mian Sahib is the real hope of this Nation coz after returnning to Pakistan he has taken right steps and stick to the task not like Imran Khan who was underground somewhere in Pawalpindi and has not faced difficulties like Nawaz has faced and forced PPP to restore Judisiary this is How the Leader fight for the People, he has given us Motorway Neucler Assets. He is our Hero. Imran should better support his cause.
It took a long time coming however National Parties have to offer Sindh an alternative in both rural and urban Sindh. The last 4 years have proved one thing. How the PPP and MQM have betrayed the people of Sindh by their miserable governance and 'mafia' style politics.
All parties be it national or nationalist have to fight for each and every seat to give Sindh another more hopeful and better choice.
Welcome Nawaz Sharif Welcome
@moeed i live in faisalabad near dhobhi ghaat and bye god on 20th November not only ground was fully filled but the adjournig street was full by 2 to 3 KM. and if someone has the doubt then he can go to faisalabad and ask to any resident of that particular area. thats why Ch nisar has asked media to just show the road. I can not talk about coming elections for lahore but i assure that from faisalabad it will be a clean sweep for PML N espacially in urban areas .And there is no chance for any one in NA 82, 83,84,85 .I can bet u on that.
of course he is the last hope for the Pakistanis. we wish him all success for betterment of the people of Pakistan.

He will announce "yellow cab scheme" in Sindh. Yayy!!! By that, he will bring a revolution in Sindh and Pakistan. Imagine everybody will be driving a yellow taxi. Isn't it cool. This will bring prosperity to Sindh. What a great leader he is.
you cannot motivate people to come to faislabad i wonder how will you motivate them to come to your jalsa in larkana
@wake up: Don't panic my dear! Nawaz Sharif is a real patriot, he has the best team and ppl, and most of all Prayers of pakistani people. God bless him!
@ ihtishamthe performance in punjab ? can any one tell just a single corruption scandal in punjab.? so that is the diffefernce in punjab and federal govt. more over economy can not be changed at provincial level . yes law and order is not good but when u have a electricity problem and uneployment due to power shortage then law and order is difficult to handle. but over all excelant performance by punjab govt. remember the report of transprancy international.
@Pakistani: True, the finest of Sindh are in PPP isnt that so?
@ihtisham: No the answer will not be a big No it will be a big Yes for the reason that you cannot simply compare apple with orange. Federal govt is responsible for the plight of people economically and financially. Businesses are effected by federal govt policies and not provincial govt. Law and Order, unemplyment, prie hike , budget deficit, trade deficit all are taking thei toll on common man, where does punjab govt figure in? Yes, there are a few things which will make people think positively about the govt of Shahbaz Sharif; yellow cabs, Danish schools, low cost housing and availabiliy of free medicine in al DHQ hospitals. Can the Sind govt beat that?
Great sir Great.. he is practically saving Pakistan. He has attacked on the Sindh card of PPP which no one other can do. he is promoting nationalism. A great leader of Pakistan JazakAllah Nawaz Sharif, JazakAllah
@Shami: If the performance of PPP in Sind is better than PML in Punjab then I guess you are right, but my freind I am afraid thats not the case. As per all indppendent surveys, Punjab has come out as the most well administred of all the provinces. So the obvious choice in camparison with PPP is PML.
@ihtisham: Federal Subjects are different. provincial Governments are 'limited' to few institutions. is Punjab Government better than Sindh's government ? YES IT IS!
Pmln zindabaad.
He paid a total of 20 Lac rupees as income tax last year (hardly a couple of times more than what I pay). I can hardly afford a suzuki mehran, whereas he will visit naudero on a helicopter. Wow.
@Khalid: PTI in Rawalpindi & Hazara ? :P NOT even a 'single' seat Possible!
The end result statement would be- 'Well fought Nawaz, Imran is the winner.'
@Shami: Among all Provincial Governments the MOST efficient & ACTIVE government is of Punjab. Best among All Provincial governments.
Best of luck. . . !!
HAHA Sindh's finest!!
tsunami waves...reaching sindh...! This is change...PMLN...after almost one and half decade...claiming it's share in SIndh again...! I wonder why have people forgotten that PMLN has had a government in Sindh too, in the 1997-99 tenure...and with a little effort...can have it again!
Sindhis will ask nawaz shreef one question, your party is ruling over 62% of pakistan. Have u done any better than Federal Govt. The answer will be a big NO.
Nice :)
Good word . . . Rake!
Judges can extend all help to NZ, but voters support.
May Allah bless nawaz sharif in future. Its the rite time to make ur presence feel in Sindh. Its 80 odd seats of NA on stake. If u loose a few to PTI in chakwal,RWP and hazara, u can get twice as much in sindh and balochistan, after a long time pmln is doing a great electoral politics.Pmln should fight on each Na seats of sindh and balochistan with nationalist forces in upcoming elections. The great battle has just began.
In Sindh now... Great to see these efforts by PML-N to do more for federation!
