The Labour Department has approved a five year project to combat child labour, according to a statement issued by the department on Thursday.
The project will be implemented in Jhang, Layyah, Jehlum and Chakwal districts. Humayun Mazhar, Punjab Labour Welfare director, said that 4,000 children will be taught different skills as part of the project. He said that under the project, model workshops will also be set up to encourage youth employment. Microcredit loans will be provided to families.
