Filling Stations: Three-day closure in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD:

All compressed natural gas (CNG) stations of the city will remain closed for three days from today (Thursday).

Under this schedule, CNG stations will suspend gas sales from 6 am on December 8 to 6 am on December 11.

A spokesman for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) said on Wednesday that the entire country is facing a severe shortage of gas. To overcome the shortfall, SNGPL said it has evolved a load management schedule for CNG stations for two days in a week but when the shortage gets severe, the company extends the gas closure up to three days.

“In case of violation, they will be handed down heavy fines besides legal action and cutting of gas connections,” the spokesman warned.

On the other hand, the association of CNG station operators has protested against the weekly closure, saying this is not the right way to overcome gas shortage.
