Going down: Roof collapses in Rohri, 20 people injured

Too many people had climbed on to the roof of one of the shops, and as a result, it came crashing down.

SUKKUR: More than 20 people, including women and children, were injured when a roof of a shop caved in on Monday afternoon.

A large number of people had climbed on to the roofs of shops located in Shahi Bazaar in Rohri, as they wanted to get a good view of the Muharram procession. Unfortunately, too many people had climbed on to the roof of one of the shops, and as a result, it came crashing down.

The injured people include 30-year-old Farida Niaz, 40-year-old Hayatan Mouladad, 18-year-old Sobia Khamiso and 6-year-old Uzma. Seven of them were admitted to the taluka hospital in Rohri and the rest were sent home after they had been treated for minor injuries.
