Navy Day commemorates the attack on the Karachi harbour during the 1971 Pakistan-India war.
According to the report on the website, there has been no official reaction from the Indian Navy.
This is not the first time that a mistake has popped up in a government issued advertisement/supplement in India and Pakistan.
In March this year, an advertisement published on behalf of the Pakistan Navy for a multi-national exercise prominently featured images of Indian Navy warships.
In March, 2010 an advertisement issued by the police force in Pakistan’s Punjab province featured the logo of its counterpart in India’s Punjab state.
In January 2010, an Indian government advertisement pictured former Pakistan Air Force chief Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed alongside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and cricketer Kapil Dev.

Dear Indians...once u ve commited a mistake then better accept it...:)
kai bat hai pakistan zinda bad
@Shiaa Pakistani: The best way is to see neutral sites and check yourself whether you won or lost miserably. After all education in Pakistan at least will give its citizens that much of intelligence to check facts in neutral websites.
So what if India shows Pakistani aircraft as being of its own...? In fact the whole of Pakistan belongs to India...naturally, legally, morally, historically, socially, politically, geographically, culturally, ethnically, genetically......! We are one...just artificially divided and being divided by selfish, communal, fascist and blind slaves of western imperialism...on both the sides. Hope a day comes when we get reunited and share everything commonly......
@Ashfaq: its not about the crafts on carrier...its in the masthead( upper side on page ,near name of magazine) open ur eyes wide......... 8-)
It is hardly something worth mentioning.
All human commit mistakes and it is okay.
@Shiaa Pakistani: ya,in Pakistani books world is flat,pakistan was created in 10,000 BC,in fact film was inspired and originated from pakistan,whatever rocks your boat...
@Shiaa Pakistani: lol, victim of false history, bad teaching and wrong text books. hello, learn from unbiased media, then typical paki sources. you started 65's war just 2 and something years after Ind-chin war and check with what purpose and what happened. and for 99's, same, loll.
@Imran Mohammad: Well, give Pakistan chance to use it, then you will know ( wink wink). BTW, did India’s LCA ever take off, I heard about it 30 years ago..
LCA got the IOC a year ago, buddy. Try to keep up with the news. Chances come up everyday, if you really wish to use it. I understand the US just sent you a red-letter invite barely a week ago (wink wink). Now we know...
In my old age, I have come to realize that Pakistan and India are the two most stupid countries of the world. BTW, any one has any 'bolder' pictures of Veena? Reminds me of Natazia Kinsky's wrapped in cobra pictures...from early 80s. Indian movies regularly seen at homes in Pakistan and India, including by hijabi women, have more nudity than my (now) favorite Veena is displaying. .
It's an American f-14 it looks like it has 2 tails if it does not have 2 tails it is most likely Su-39 which is not sold to the Indian airforce
India will have in operation in 2016 Su-50 which is a 5th generation fighter plane which is given as a gift from Russia the Indian version will be called Hal-50 and the only difference in Indian and Russian version is Indian jet will have a crew of 2 as opposed to Russian jet having only 1 pilot This plane will be the best of its kind with the unique sukhoi tail braking capability
But honestly I am in love with Su-49 the unique shape and capability of the plane is outstanding
@ Indians u need to get your pilots better trained so they don't crash into 2 story buildings @ Pakistan u need to get better planes to even talk about aviation in general
@Acorn Guts: just a reminder that JF-17 is a second grade fighter plane that China will sell soon to any who pays. Whats there to proud of JF-17?
@You Said It
Well, give Pakistan chance to use it, then you will know ( wink wink). BTW, did India's LCA ever take off, I heard about it 30 years ago..
@Ghost of sparta: We won against India in the war of 1965 and 1999. No amount of Indian BS can convince me otherwise. Cheers
Indians are good at copying and pasting. For long they have been copying Hollywood movies and creating Bollywood movies out of them. They have long copied Pakistani music and labelled it as theirs. They copied Diana's funeral and gave a similar on to Mother Theresa. So this is nothing new, keep on copying and pretending to be original!!!
Indian can do anything,thats why india is a rising super power and very close to get permanent U.N. Membership.
So what if it is jf-17? Go celebrate this make a national holiday in pakistan today but don't forget your defeated in war against india
@DB,
Plus, MIG-29 does not have wing tip rails to launch Air-to-Air missiles.
@Imran Mohammad: May be Indian Navy is interested in buying JF17. Indians, special price for you !!!
Didn't Pak already offer a buy-four-for-the-price-of-one deal at the Dubai air show, and no one took the offer. China doesn't deploy its own JF-17 -- it just sells them to Pak while they use the J-10 themselves. This is true all-weather friendship!!
LOL. You just have to love India. This news is better than the monkey one.
Hey Indians, they are claiming it MIG and some Indians claiming it Sukhoi. All Indians here just behaving as someone put his foot on their tail. ET is really doing good job in keeping the Indians busy......
@You Said It: It is not Mig 29, which is two engine, two tail plane with no LeX in front of intakes. This is JF17
pakistan zindabad
y all indians try to cover up the jf with su30 :D chill guys :D
@SU30 MKI do not forget india started building HAL Tejas an equivalent of JF17 3 years earlier than pakistan.. but u flop.. then indian air force give tender to import aircrafts in their famous MRCA ... and then chosen eurofighter... eurofighter is also a 4th generation aircraft like jf17... the stealth technology is in 5th generation.. nothing to proud.. u r still a wanna be super power that imports military parts.. when will u export? or even picture.
they love us that's why
Guys, let's be very clear here - India has not used the image. One newspaper has used the image - even if it is JF-17, it is a good example of the ineptitude of the newspaper and not India. Same applies in the other direction - If some newspaper in Pakistan makes a mistake, it is that newspaper's mistake not Pakistan's mistake.
@farhan: arey yaar,i can understand your exasperation and outrage, but we have already seen your antics in all four wars "india use Pakistani aircraft JF-17 thunder to destroy their own country on their navy day" just like you celebrate the defense day on the day you lost the war
@Yuri Kondratyuk: Seriously, Pak media has gone overboard with this Veena Malik 'scandal'. After seeing the plethora of articles on this website I scanned Indian papers (TOI and HT) and channels where there was absolutely no mention at all. Pak media needs to get over this Veena hangover, for us Indians she is one of the millions who do these stunts for publicity every other day in Bombay.
india use Pakistani aircraft JF-17 thunder to destroy their own country on their navy day.... its very humorous for All the Pakistani ... i also enjoy this issue.... hahhaha LOLz India...
Somalia pirates who have become very rich are planning to buy JF-17's from Pakistan to boost up their piracy business and use them against the Navies trying to protect their cargo ships.
The image here is too small to tell for sure. But it does look more like the JF-17 than the Su-30, though that might be due to the angle. Anyway ET can link to a bigger picture?
It is clearly JF-17. But what's the big deal? What if Indian media has shown this aircraft? Next time we will show an Indian Tejas on our news paper. Good sign of forthcoming friendship. We can have great publicity of our crafts this way. lol.
@mirror image: LOLX... MR. your eyes .. hahahahahahaha... "No one is better than you in propaganda"
@Acorn Guts:
Unfortunately, it's the Pakistani press that heard your advice :)
they are insulting themself by putting that junk's picture, loll
May be Indian Navy is interested in buying JF17. Indians, special price for you !!!
:-)
Aawwww! Now isn't this sweet of you. Thanx for the compliments but the Indian Navy has excellent jet fighters adapted to aircraft carriers, which are MIG 29s. Of course, it does look like a JF 17 but never mind dearies it can also be a Sukhoi 30MKI. Bi for now.
@Karan: @Su 30MKI:
.. and we digress as usual :) You guys never disappoint me.
India has a lot of Patton tanks from Khem Karan. Doesn't mean that India bought them or uses them. It just means that India owns them!!
haha....It is a Sukhoi air craft , which has been copied by chinese . Ask a russian ,they will explain you everything . it is commonly described as "ulta chor kotwal ko bole". these so called JF aircafts are not in international arena and barely has any recongnization outside China and pak . If India had intentions of copying an image , then it would have copied an american drone , which has caused devastation in Pak .
plagiarism saves time...!!! brings ire ;)
acorn : Phew..proud of JF 17....how would want a 3rd generation fighter jet...we got money to buy rafael or Eurofighter typhoon..go and sell it to sudan or somalia..even i am afraid they will buy it.rather they will shoot down hostile aircraft using catapult..lol
indians want to take credit
@Acorn Guts: On one thing you are right that India is also very proud of Jf 17 and starting from 14th nov this pride will start increasing.. hahahahah if you know what i mean but i doubt . ;)
I just hope countries atleast buy Jf 17's pictures and pay for it if they are not buying it.
Consequences of shoddy Google Images search + copy & paste...
@Su 30MKI: Do you see the canards on this 'su-30'? I don't, I only see a beautiful JF-17. But you are right, there is no problem with this, India is as proud of JF-17 as we are :)
Can't see front canards or the twin vertical tail stabiliser from this angle, wings too right angled triangular for an SU-30 but the picture is really too small to say anything with certainty...could be one of at least a half-dozen contemporary aircraft. Hardly much to fuss about!
The article on Rediff was later clarified to be inaccurate. The picture in question was later clarified to be that of the MiG-29K.
I doesnt see so. Notice its on an aircraft carrier & Jf 17 does not have that capablity. Look like a sukhoi
Dear Indian press,
Just stick to Veena Malik.
Regards Pakistan.
Oh damm..Thats Su 30 aircraft..Su 27, 30, 35 have similar airframe...they have long nose, very long wings..its a big bird to say..it no where similar to JF 17...
ofcourse Indian navy doesnt have su 30..but still IAF has..i dont see any problem in this..
