Kaira terms meetings ‘positive’

Qamaruz Zaman Kaira termed his meetings with various United Kingdom officials as “positive and beneficial".

LONDON: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamaruz Zaman Kaira on Thursday termed his meetings with various United Kingdom officials as “positive and beneficial”. The federal minister also said that Pakistan stands to gain a lot from the British experience in media and public diplomacy in winning the global war against terrorism and militancy.

The federal minister is at present on a two-day official visit to the United Kingdom to discuss issues common to both countries with the United Kingdom officials.

“The United Kingdom has a vast experience in these fields and Pakistan is keen to learn and benefit from it”, said the minister.

Earlier, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira visited the British Home Office and met the Head of Organisation for Security and Counter Terrorism Charles Farr as well as the Director of Defence and Strategic Threats Simon Manley at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

“We discussed how we can better use the tools and skills so that these can be used in a constructive manner,” said the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) lawmaker.
