FAISALABAD: A case has been registered against four officials of Gulberg police station on charges of assault, illegal detention and robbery.  Complainant Muhammad Abid, a resident of Afghan Abad, submitted in his complaint that Head Constable Muhammad Ashraf Rajoka and his three colleagues allegedly beat him up, detained him without warrants and robbed him of his mobile phone and some cash on his refusal to pay a bribe. He said the policemen had been called to settle a dispute between him and Akram. However, he said, the dispute had been settled on involvement of some elders of the area by the time the policemen had arrived. The officials, he added, refused to leave without a bribe and assaulted him and took him to the police station on his refusal to comply. Gulberg police said a case had been registered against the four officials and that investigations were underway.
