"In India everything is referred to ISI (Pakistan's spy agency Inter Services Intelligence)", she told Geo TV. "Even if a very small thing happens, they say ISI is behind it. Everybody blames ISI for everything."
Malik said the original idea had been Kabeer Sharma's, editor of FHM's Indian edition, but that the photos had been "morphed".
"He told me that (the tattoo) will be very bold and will cover the upper portion of the body, which it did not.
"I agreed to a photo shoot and having an ISI tattoo in a humorous way but I did not have any nude photos. My pictures have been morphed," said Malik.
"They have the videos of the shoot but it would be in clothes and not without clothes," the actress said.
Also speaking to Geo, Sharma said Malik had been "very excited for this shoot" and the tattoo by the makeup artist had been "in very thin font, but (Malik) asked to make a bold tattoo of ISI".

@Rafi Ka Deewana: Crrection to my earlier post: I meant to say the following: I see no difference between the laws that force women not to wear certain garments and Saudi and Taliban laws that force women to wear the same garments.
@kamran: Modernity here is not in the sense that a Muslim "sister" decided to ditch clothes and just hide whatever she could with her "bare" hands; it is in the sense she did that on her own free will. That's modernity. On the other hand, mullahs force women to wear burqas and hijabs and this and that and stone them to death in football stadiums for simply going out to earn an honest and honorable living; that is backwardness. Just like I will uphold Veena's right to wear whatever she wants to -- or perhaps not even that -- I would uphold the right of a woman to wear a burqa or a hijab or very conservative excessive clothing if she does that on her own free will. That's modernity. That's why I condemn French and Turkish laws disallowing women to wear hijabs and veils. I see no difference between these laws that force women not to wear what Saudi and Taliban laws force them to wear. It's the freedom, stupid, that constitutes modernity, not the stupid clothes. I suppose since you live in and I quote you, “my backward society,” you wouldn’t understand this modern concept. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
@maestro: Pity you're so far removed from reality!! If Veena wishes to wear or not wear let her decide, don't bring your mother and sister into this. What she did was absolutely legal in India - there is no ground for us to object! Grow up mate - Grow up!!!
GO VEENA JEE GO!!
I'd like to see the video that was made during the shoot.
Who cares about Meera and Veena... ? I don't... do you?
I bet Mumbai attacks didnt get as much coverage in Pakistani media as Veena malik's tattoo did. Tells me how screwed up Pakis priorities are.
for anyone who is famous, and that person visits another country it is expected that they behave in such a way that reflects their country. in pakistan it is not believed that women have to wear burqas or cover themselves from head to toe, but it is expected that they atleast cover themselves in such a way that it us acceptable to our socciety. pakistan is an islamic state and being muslims we are required to cover our bodies properly. what matters more is the ISI logo, not her nudity. innocent people die all over the world, there are murders, rapes and killings all around the world, so before targetting pakistan research properly to find out what is happening all around the world. innocent people have been killed in iraq, palestine and afghanistan and pakistan is not behind them. its easy to have an opinion about everything and everyone. visit pakistan and then you will know how much respect and importance is given to women in our country. i agree honour killings to do occur but that is what uneducated people do and that is only done by a small fraction of people in pakistan. live in peace friends.
@sajid: Spot on bro
@Murad: In the pic she is behind ISI, real life?
@Rafi Ka Deewana: Spot On brother and i like your name"Rafi Ka Deewana" you have good taste.
@maestro: "All veena lovers – how about if this was your sister or daughter? How would you feel then eh??"
I am not a Veena lover. I think she is a minimally talented exhibitionist.
While I don't think that what Veena has done is anything to brag about I think it is her choice
I may have a preference about how my sister dresses but I do not have a veto over her. Nor do I believe that my preference for how my sister should dress should be imposed on everyone else.
Specifically, my mother always dressed modestly in salwar kameez same as my grandmother. Neither of them wore a hijaab - let alone a niqab or burqa. So I would definitely prefer that my sisters do not wear religion on their sleeve. But the fact is that one of my married sister wears a hijaab and another one wears jeans. While as I stated before I prefer salwar kameez I have not tried to impose my views on either the sister who wears hijaab or the one who wears jeans.
Since I do not impose my views on my own sisters you can be sure I would not impose my views on anyone and say that just because I would hate for my sister to wear a burqa that no woman should be allowed to wear one even if she so chooses.
@Rafi Ka Deewana, You make your point well. Sacastically.
Scandal ! Controversy ! Sell magazines, Pro or con, we all are participating in this now.
Horrifying to think that Paris Hilton would represent my country or mainly, me, in any way! They represent themselves. They represent the .05%, the elite powers in our country has emotionally neglected, poorly behaved, children. They cry for help, but instead are wrapped in a vail of shallow attentions, untouchable. To think about them at all, allow me to pray for them. Sad that people admire them or are in gross awe and spend so much energy about these unfortunate people!
I know nothing of Veena except these articles. Wether it be Veena, Paris, Lindsay, or any Kardashion, they choose. Only, they, can choose their path.
Media shows such Negative pictures, In moments have thought this is all of islam which almost seems implied by media, but something in me, human nature, knows this cannot be true. Paris Hilton, is one of a kind, belonging to an extreme minority! I am an example of far many more people than she.
@Me: If sex-workers do it with their own free will, then they are free, but if they are being forced to do it -- which is often the case -- then they are not free. It's a matter of common sense; I guess seeing photos like VM's knocks common sense out of many folks.
Is the ISI behind Veena?????
Some Yahoo Comments:
"I would recommend we trade paris hilton , lindsay lohan , and the entire Kardashian family for Veena Malik ."
"Did you hear that ladies?? You showing up in a magazine for a semi-nude photo brings shame to the nation. It's not the training camps full of terrorists, suicide bombers, harboring of Osama Bin-Laden, numerous stonings, rapes, beheadings, forced marriages, that brings shame, but a skimpy picture making a political statement that brings great shame."
"Yeah, Pakistan had a spotless record until Veena Malik posed nude."
After all its all permit (DIESEL) like business.
All veena lovers - how about if this was your sister or daughter? How would you feel then eh?? All this nonsense about "women being free" - the way to be free is to be educated, intelligent and dignified! Thats a true free woman. And no one is saying wear a burqa. But just some level of class and decency would be nice. Pak girls are super beautiful and the ones that are the most beautiful are the ones who dress elegantly and speak intelligently. It can be a shalwar kameez, it can be a kurta with jeans or even a skirt. No problem! Not a woman who goes around showing her naked body to the world - ooo - i'm free! LOLS. Ok if this is freedom for women, then go pose in playboy or penthouse veena. And stop lying - if you're free, then be brave enough to admit you did it. The proof is there and everyone knows it. This was real.
I may have posted the words "true beauty" in relation to Playboy, though they (used to)display what is naturally beautiful, they do not represent "true beauty". My mistake, words can be difficult and this is why sincere open dialogue is so important for understanding.
@Jack: Very well said
Veena is quite beautiful, though personally I think all the effort put into trying to make herself look beautiful has diminished her beauty. Way too much make-up in the above picture and paint on the FHM picture.
Can you believe until just this week the only images of Pakistan women I have seen have been in black Burqas? I am still trying to understand what is it really like in Pakistan.
I stopped watching network news some years ago and now use the internet as my main media source. Facebook and other sociol media is our opportunity to publish ourselves and communicate for the sake of understanding among the people of our Nations without goverment influence, pray that remains. Maybe peace and diplomacy is our responsibility and not for corrupt governments geared toward making war. How can we, the people, make peace?
She most likely saw FHM as an opportunity, but i consider it a lower mentality type magazine. Playboy has much better articles but has lost it's sense of true beauty, women may be nude but it is mostly paint that we see. Most of these pictures are more like fiction, sorry guys, but that is why I would be more inclined to believe her story.
@Anjum: We have our principals. You certainly do. They live in Washington, USofA . They have been your principals since Ayub Khan sold your country half a century back. You genuflect to them and they throw you tukdas from their table to keep your country going. I don't believe your principals would be too upset with Veena. So don't get worked up.
Hypocrisy and Lying are two best traits in today world. the bigger the liar is the more they get position and wealth.
Examples are everywhere start counting it from own country. Govt, politicians, players, scholars, media, chabbari wala, tandoor wala etc etc....
Nawaz
its money power of india
Thank God for VM, At least we savor a few minutes of class and freedom before the damn Taliban choke our behinds!! Lovely picture and funny too.
@antanu: no need say you are Indian continuously, we all know that to everyone,- antanu is an Indian, not a pakistani. he is feeding his family with Indian money. no more questions on this.
@sajid: Spot on who knew about her before Big Boss and FHM.In the movie industry they are either in the news or OUT other than those with great talent.
@Anjum: Please be at peace we do not want to reverse partition , whether it was the right decision or wrong it is FINAL.There are looneys on both sides of the border who want to take invade the other country forget about them and relax.
I don't understand the fuss.
Just a few months back, wasn't Pakistan called Pornistan for searching for unspeakables on the internet?!!!
express tribune's ultra liberals must be very proud and happy to see their mentor veena shooting nude ..
@Anjum: a partial quote of what you wrote above " They atually think that all muslims are forced converts, and that we have a misserable life. That we envie hindus. They want pak to be merged by Bharat, and then expell muslims from the land. " end of quote
No Sir, most indian would be quite satisfied that pak is a separate country - and would appreciate if the rest of the world could tell the difference ( now more and more recognizable with each passing day ) between the two .
@earnest thompson: - well said sir - and the day that ladies like Ms V are FORCED to wear a burka in a major city like Karachi or Lahore is the beginnign of the end for women in pakistan .
why are we crying over this photo shoot? So many women in India and elsewhere do almost everyday. By crying we are giving more powers to ISI and mad mullahs.
Extremely disappointing with her
She is a Perfect Liar. Watch her youtube photoshoot.
@Anjum: No disappointment here - you people dish out the same fare each time. For the record, let me state a couple of facts up front: 1. We don't refer to India as Bharat when speaking in English 2. Indians do not like Pakistan because they feel it sponsors terrorism and sends militants to wage a proxy war against India - the bleed India through a thousand cuts ideology. We think you are actually a likeable bunch of people and we still have a lot in common, as you will find whenever you come across the border 3. We are proud that we have almost as many muslims as you people do - and wish that they could be integrated more into the nation without external forces trying to destabilise the fragile balance. At the same time, I acknowledge that we have a long, long way to go. Equitable, inclusive growth is the need of the hour. But the inferiority complex angle is rather laughable and says more about you than it does about 'Bharat'. 4. I would not change the mix of India for a minute - our diversity is our greatest strength. We have stayed so long together despite multiple cultures, languages, cuisines, religions, etc, and this gives us courage to soldier on and solve our problems internally. If we did not have this level of diversity, we would possibly be squabbling amongst ourselves on who is more 'Hindu' than the other - and becoming more like Pakistan. 5. Under no circumstances do we want to add any more territory to India, except maybe to clarify border disputes with China and Pakistan in a reasonable manner. Even if Pakistan came to us on a platter, we would run in the opposite direction - I can assure you this. A good example is East Pakistan - was there ever a discussion about absorbing it into India despite being liberated by the Indian army? Why do you think that is so?
I know this will change nothing in your perceptions, but there are some among you who are smarter and more reasonable - this message is for them.
Fortunately there is still portions of the planet not under the iron fist of Islamist. Places where women are free.
@Ahmed: Janab Ahmed Sahib, Being "amrikan" has nothing to do with what I said. Being a lover of freedom has a lot to do with my thoughts, though. Every now and then, I come across with "amrikans" born and raised in America by Mullah immigrant parents, and their thought process is as suppressive and rigid as if they were raised in a very backward place like Saudi Arabia, Iran, certain areas of Pakistan, etc. So according to your faulty thinking, they should be buying the magazine in bulk, but I don't think they are doing that. They are probably horrified to see a "sister" in that pose. It's none of anybody's business to pass judgments on Ms. Malik's picture. If they are looking at the picture, they have lost moral authority to judge the woman, unless they don't like it from an art point of view. But one has to me insane not to admire the subject's immense beauty and the picture's artistic message. Actually, Ms. Malik has done a great service to Pakistan: She became the harbinger of an image of beauty, art and softness emanating from Pakistan, from where pictures of horrible-looking mullahs beating and flogging women generally emerge. Adding the ISI tattoo enhanced the art value. I must admire Ms. Malik's creativity. By the way, if I am saying what I am because I am an "amrikan,' how about those who are saying something similar to what I said but are in Pakistan? What do you think is their reason? Is it because "momins" like you are not doing the job of fixing these people's thoughts. You should uphold your beliefs: Instead of wasting your time in looking at the picture, you should be "preaching" to these folks. Let me tell you what the real reason for these people's thought process is: Love for freedom knows no boundary. Thank Allah. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
i think this is deplorable- even from a 'modern, westernized' point of view. this would be looked upon as indecent/pornographic in any western culture, not something which represents women's freedom or the 'progress' of a nation. any champion of human rights, women's rights and human dignity will find this cheap and demeaning. having said that, the 'honour' based arguments above are just another manifestation of pakistani custom/culture and frankly, laughable. the religious argument, however, is noteworthy- not because the picture dishonours some self-righteous men but because it dishonours women themselves- Allah has only prohibited things which go against our own fitrah, or pure selves. giving this matter excessive coverage is futile though- let Veena live with her actions and answer to God, especially as the magazine in question has a reputation for doctoring photos.
Adding too what Roflcopter said, I say "lolz"
Welldone Veena. make all of us happy. many times more please!!
Long Live Veena Malik!!!
every pakistani hates veena for giving such a wrong pose for india........
Hello Veena ... Im from FHM Pakistan... :)
thts a good step to represent theire tribe
veeeeeeeeeeeeeeena malik plz dont forget us plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Sickening coverage of a non-issue.
@Siddique Malik: Malik Saab, you left Pakistan and I think became an amrikan. Let's leave it at that.
Amusing how people misuse the word 'boldness' for vulgarity. Within the frame work of islam atleast, this sort of 'boldness' is not allowed. I feel sorry for the poor parents, what must they be going through because of their daughter's 'boldness'. We are not amrikans, or ingraeez, we are a conservative society, and this sort of thing is neither encouraged, nor looked on too favorably. This sort of thing comes with certain 'tags'/names, im sure Ms. Malik must have considered those before sitting for this shoot. Still, I feel for the poor parents.
Aaah i m so sick of seeing a new veena malik update on my fb profile every 5 minutes.
Get over it guys! There is more to life.
I have seen the nude photo. Lovely piece of art. ISI could also be ABC or XYZ. Who cares. Has nothing to do with Islam or any other faith.
why Veena Malik denies that photo shoot?? if she did lets face every thing
Bhaiyon lets not make our honour so cheap that someone like veena malik can ruin it. The more attention we give her the more she thrives. Also this pic is likely fake.
Just goes to show how beautiful women can be when not suffocating and burqas and head wraps
support her.
Its very true....we and our media i India are under ISIphobia...just like it was CIA during Indira Gandhi Era. Yes I remember..during the plague outbreak in Surat media has announced that it was a handiwork of ISI.
Vina is not from Pakistan
lol
