HARIPUR:

The supreme council of Tehreek-i-Suba Hazara (TSH) has demanded the PML-Q leadership to disclose the agreement signed with the PPP for the creation of the province or quit the coalition government.

The demand was made during a meeting of the council at the residence of former district nazim Yousaf Ayub Khan. The participants were of the view that the PML-Q had joined the coalition government on condition that a separate province for the Hazarewals would be carved out from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). However, they agreed that the party leadership has hardly taken any concrete steps to expedite the issue over the past six months, which is a matter of grave concern for the local people, who have rendered great sacrifices for the cause.

They expressed the resolve to accelerate their efforts for a separate province and said that the supreme council of TSH would try to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to present their case. The participants requested the president to use his influence with the ANP to adopt two identical resolutions for the Hazara province which were pending for discussion in the K-P assembly.

Council members have decided to address public rallies across Hazara division and Karachi to mobilise people and pressurise the government to accept their demand. TSH Chairman Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, former federal minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon, former National Assembly deputy speaker Sardar Muhammad Yaqub, fomer state finance minister Omar Ayub Khan were among those who attended the meeting.
