Muharram security: Sialkot bans 22 clerics

Eight others prohibited from delivering sermons.

Sialkot district administration has banned the entry of 22 clerics belonging to different schools of thought in Sialkot, Sambrial, Daska, and Pasrur tehsils during the month of Muharram.  


The list issued on Thursday includes the following names: Qari Manzoor Hussain of Sohdara; Riaz Hussain Haidari and Qazi Mazhar Hussain Hashmi of Chakwal; Maulana Gulfam Hussain Hashmi and Maulana Muhammad Taqi of Multan; Prof Abdul Hakim of Hyderabad, Millat Jaffariya Pakistan president Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi; Qari Abdul Qadeer Khamosh of Lahore; Maulana Abdullah Nisar and Maulana Abdul Rasheed  of Gujranwala; Maulana Irfan Haider Abid, Maulana Atta Ullah Bundiyalavi and Maulana Ziaul Haq of Sargodha, Maulana Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi of Toba Tek Singh; Maulana Muhammad Yahiya Mohsin  of Sankhatra-Narowal; Qari Kafayat Ullah of Dinga-Gujrat; Maulana Saeed Ahmed Multani and Maulana Ghulam Ahmed of Kabirwala-Khanewal; Maulana Abdul Sattar of Taunsa Sharif; Maulana Abdul Karim of Jhang; Maulana Abdul Hamid Nadeem of Multan and Taj Din Haidari of Rahwali.

The list issued by the office of the district police officer banned eight clerics from delivering sermons during the month. These were Ehsanullah Farooqi, Hafiz Muhammad Saleh, Qari Muhammad Akram, Maulana Abu Khan Usmani, Maulana Muhammad Afzal, Ejaz Hussain, Zulfiqar Ali Gohar and Ali Nasirul Hussaini.

The DPO said 31 of the 48 sensitive spots in the district were included in category A and 17 in category B. He said 2,344 policemen and 4,500 volunteers, will perform security duties during the month.
