Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani announced Rs three billion for development projects in Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday.

In addition to this, Rs350 million have been allocated for people who were affected by the Attabad Lake crisis. A large number of people were forced to leave their homes when an artificial lake created by landslips in Hunza inundated several villages.

These affected people later sought refuge in makeshift camps. With conditions worsening with the advent of the Monsoon season, the affectees sought relief from the government.

I pray this time neither the government nor NDMA will pass any irresponsible and uneducated judgments on the seriousness of the disaster considering it a matter of insignificant; at least not like the case happened with Attabad Lake. Furthermore, i also hope that this package will no more be the at the mercy of crupt leaders.

The basic amenities of life are missing. There is no electricity for the last so many days. Customs Health Care Society, Lahore with a team of doctors/volunteers is still working there for the care and welfare of the affected population.
