Expanding ties: Fahim to participate in Indian fair

The minister’s visit follows recent talks to normalise bilateral trade relationship between the two countries.

AMRITSAR: Pakistani Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim has agreed to visit trade expo PHD-PITEX 2011, to be organised in Amritsar from December 1-5, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry said here on Monday, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported. The minister’s visit follows recent talks to normalise bilateral trade relationship between the two countries. A PHD Chamber release said various industry bodies from Pakistan will have interactions with trade associations in Indian Punjab during the Expo. “Being a part of integrated approach towards better trade ties, such interactions play role of a catalyst,” PHD Chamber Chairman, Punjab Committee, Rajiv Bali said. More than 800 visa requests from Pakistani traders to visit PHD-PITEX 2011 have already been recommended.
