Thousands of NATO containers ground to a halt across Pakistan
Nato supplies to Afghanistan remained suspended for the second consecutive day after Nato helicopters attacked a Pakistani check post killing at least 24 soldiers at the Pak-Afghan border on Saturday.
The Defence committee of cabinet have suspended the land route of NATO/ISAF supplies for an unspecified period of time after the attack in Mohmand Agency.
Express 24/7 reporter Umar Farooq says at least 150 Nato containers have been stopped at the Torkham border crossing to Afghanistan. Additionally, thousands of other containers moving through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been ground to a halt, say officials. Supplies making their way to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be sent back to Karachi the officials further stated.
No timeline has been given for an end to the suspension of the supply route.
The Obama administration on Saturday pledged a full investigation into the Nato attack.

let them use the other route...most pakistanis would welcome this...and I believe the other route is much more expensive as well...US will speed up its bankruptcy anyway..
@ullo: All heavy war fighting machinery flows through Pakistan. Only light goods and food rations are allowed via northern routes in agreement with the Russians and central Asian states, flying in armoured troop carriers and tanks to Bagram is not viable or economic. Ferrying supplies via air from supply ships in Arabian sea means access to pak airspace being granted or they can always ask the Iranians!

It is your fat that is in the fire. It is your feet that are being put to the fire. If you keep current about world news, you might have noticed the various "occupy" movements across America and Europe. They will sort out their problems and most assuredly will not require your help. What are you doing about your problems that are unraveling your country?
US cannot survive without Pakistan's support in Afghanistan... Pakistan cannot survive without aids from USA... How about giving it a try for once? Lets see who feels the greater pain. For once get out of this war... Pls. Pak for GODs sake!!
I dont want to sound cynical, but is not the last several months episode (Bin laden, memogate till Pak troops getting killed, 2 days ago) an attack on Pakistan sovereignty.
(The UN has not been approached yet, on Kashmir its everyday they swear for UN resolution....)
Any other country would have broken the ties.....or is it something sinister, which the AAM Junta cant get it. (Getting Mushraff/ military & Imran combine to get to power)
US has been testing the waters ....like a villain in a bollywood movie taking chance to molest the modesty of the actress (Pak).
Has there been a change in troops deployment from radcliffe line to durrand line, or has something US has got off (from Bin Laden CDs) and they are ready to escalate the issue on a higher level.
Quite a lot to ponder.
If the other route wont have any affect on US and the troops then why dont they shut it themselves and use that route already??

Northern route is costly but not so much when you consider that US doesn't have to give aid to Pakistan for the usage of the supply routes.

Pakistan can barely manage to pay its bills without US's help and you think Uzbekistan will help you to take on the World's sole Super Power?
Pakistanis should remind themselves of the 1948-49 Soviet blockade of West Berlin. Everything, including common coal, was airlifted into that island city for almost an year and ultimately Soviets capitulated. You are no Soviets, dependent as you are on American largesse, directly and indirectly. In such a perilous time for your country, you would be better off keeping your mouths shut and inculcate a lot of flexibility in your national demeanour. Remember, even if you survive the current times, you would still be living in America's world for a long time!

Now the war against terrorism will take the right turn . Pakistan has to collaborate with US in this war or will be declaired as terrorist state . The sovereinity of Pakistan can not be respected if it continued to Provide shelter to Hqqani group .

Pakistan should take all the containers check them and either sell them or auction them in open or black market and give the the money to innocent victims of terror by NATO and drones in Pakistan. I know some buyers in Dubai they would buy it on 20% discount on market rate.

Set all the containers on fire, it will be a good way of protest. At least, give NATO/US some kinda reply.
