US Ambassador Cameron Munter visited the Sunehri Masjid on Saturday, which is being restored with the help of funds donated by the United States.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that Pak-US friendship was based on “confidence and love”. He said that the US planned on continuing to support Pakistan, adding that the US also wanted to help Pakistan get over the energy crisis and improve its education facilities. His wife, Dr Marilyn Wyatt, also accompanied him.
Munter said that he was satisfied with the conservation work of the mosque. Katie Kiser, the cultural affairs officer at US Consulate General in Lahore, said that the US had allocated $67,500 in total for the restoration of the mosque. The project is expected to be completed in August 2012, she said.
