Pro Bono: DBA offers free legal services to Bilal’s family

DBA constituted a committee for providing free legal assistance to the family of a kidnapping and murder victim.

The District Bar Association (DBA) has constituted a committee for providing free legal assistance to the family of a kidnapping and murder victim.


According to the prosecution, the DBA will be handling the case of Bilal, 16, who was allegedly kidnapped and killed by Advocate Ishrat Naheed six days ago despite the latter having received a ransom of Rs3.5 million.

DBA president Fawwad Ahmad Cheema, while chairing a meeting on Friday, strongly condemned the involvement of Naheed in the kidnapping cum murder of a teenager for ransom. Cheema announced that the DBA would provide pro bono services to the family after their son had been killed despite the kidnapper having received a ransom.

A legal aid committee has also been constituted in this regard, comprising of DBA advocate secretary Sardar Haris Ameen Chaudhary, Punjab Bar Council member Chaudhary Tanveerur Rehman Randhawa, advocate Rana Muazzam Abbas, former DBA secretary Malik Farrukh Gulzar Awan and advocate Malik Ayub Sialvi.
