KARACHI: Declaring most-favoured nation (MFN) status and Kashmir cause two different issues, Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan has said his government has no objection to giving this special status to India if Pakistan’s business community approves it.

Talking to the media after meeting representatives of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) at its head office here on Thursday, he said “MFN does not matter. What matters the most is complete independence of Kashmir and its people.”

“At the same time, we do not want to backtrack from the Kashmir cause. We will continue to struggle for the independence of Kashmir.”

“By granting MFN status, we have shown the world that we are not narrow-minded and want to move forward without compromising our interests,” he said.

He said economic prosperity of Pakistan was vital for the people of Kashmir and
was directly linked to the Kashmir cause.
