MELBOURNE:
Australia fast-bowler Mitchell Johnson and all-rounder Shane Watson may miss the first Test against New Zealand after suffering injuries during the South Africa tour. Johnson sustained a toe injury during Australia’s victory in the second Test, while Watson was also a doubt after straining his hamstring, said Cricket Australia in a statement. “Johnson has an injury in his left foot,” said the team’s physiotherapist. “The scans will be reviewed and he will also be assessed by medical staff on his return to Perth.” Meanwhile, Watson also had a scan that confirmed the extent of his hamstring injury.
