Cj’s Oath: Petition hearing set for November 28

LHC overruled petition challenging the oath of CJ Sheikh Azmat Saeed administered by Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa.

LAHORE: Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday overruled the LHC office objection on a writ petition challenging the oath of Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed administered by Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa. LHC registrar’s office had objected that lawyer Afaq Ahmad had no locus standi to file the case. Ahmad argued that being a citizen of Pakistan he had every right to move the case. Preliminary hearing on the case will start on November 28. Afaq had submitted that a case against appointment of Khosa as governor was pending before the court and so the CJ’s oath was not ‘legal’.
