Seminar: Meeting climate change challenges

A seminar on “International workshop on Climate Change and Sustainable Management of Water Resources in the Asia-Pacific Region,” will be held from November 22-24 by the Comsats Institute of Information Technology Islamabad Department of Meteorology.


According to a press release issued by Comsats on Monday, the seminar is being organised in collaboration with Unesco, the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Comsats-HQ and Daad, Germany.

Participants from Asia and the pacific region would speak on topics like “challenges of climatic change”, “sustainable water resource planning and management”, “remote sensing and GIS application in water resources management”, “modelling techniques in poorly-gauged river basins in developing countries”, “flood and drought forecasting and mitigation” and “socioeconomic aspects of climate change viz-a-viz water resources.

The workshop aims at providing networking opportunities to national and international researchers, educationalists, and others working on mitigation of adverse affects of climate change.

Through the workshop, participants would be apprised of emerging research and techniques to develop options for sustainable water resource management in the wake of climate change.
