Five alleged terrorists and two policemen were killed in a suicide blast on Sea View, near Village restaurant, on Wednesday night. Two alleged terrorists were identified as Shoaibur Rehman and Atiqur Rehman.
The men were arrested from different parts of the city but their identities have been kept a secret.
But the arrests were denied by Crime Investigation Department SP Mazhar Mashwani, who said that nobody had been arrested or detained.
The police questioned Shoaib’s family but they were not able to get any concrete information.
“Although it is still premature to say anything for sure till the investigation concludes but most probably the banned religious outfit, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, could be behind the incident with some help from Al-Qaeda and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan,” revealed Mashwani. “All the evidence indicates the involvement of the local militant group.”
