ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar said on Thursday that the government will take action if allegations against Hussain Haqqani are proved regarding an alleged memo written to former US Admiral Mike Mullen.

Talking to Express 24/7, Mukhtar said that the entire issue must be investigated before reaching any conclusion. He raised questions over Mansoor Ijaz’s character, who claims to have delivered the letter to Mullen, saying that he was a dubious character who cannot be trusted.

He also questioned how it was possible that Mullen passed the letter on to President Obama without reading it.

The minister said Haqqani would not be asked to resign.

Talking about Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Mukhtar defended the PIA saying the airline was functioning as usual and most of its Hajj flights arrived on time.

He added that Hajj flights are not subject to delays with 84 per cent of them reaching their destinations on time.

Speaking on the Haqqani network, he vowed that Pakistan will continue to fight the network within its own territory.

Why Haqqani should not be asked to resign, because he is Zardari’s friend &, therefore, he has immunity like him against all crimes.

If this letter thing is true than the action should be taken against Zardari because he was actually the one to wrote the letter. Haqqani must have to obey the order from the president. I don’t know why no one is blaming Zardari.

    Chaudhry Sahib:

In case if Mr. Haqqani resigns, you can appoint him in Servis Shoes.

He has good terms and can export quality Servis Shoes to US which may create a shortfall in Pakistan.

Servis Shoes in Pakistan are sold in Pak Rupees, whereas these shoes can be exported to US in dollars.

You can make lot of money which is beyond your imagination.

I think Haqqani has some very very serious materials against the president………maybe movie of some kind or president’s bank records….otherwise why would Haqqani keep resigning and Zardardi keep rejecting it……….

Haqqani is well known to be against the pakistan military and he does everything in his power to undermined everything about pakistan.

The civilian Government should take stand on its civilian ambassador! Enough is enough and all political parties especially Nawaz Shareef should take stand with the PPP government. Today it is happening to this government and tomorrow another civilian government will be treated like this. We have to stop this.

Haqqani is untouchable because he has diplomatic immunity. He has guaranteed pardon from President Zardari.

Amazing that the Honourable Foreign Minister Khar to whom Ambassador Haqqani reports is silent but the Honourable Defence Minister has opened his mouth to give proof of his ignorance.

This Guy usually means the opposite of what he says. The article should be read as ” Haqqani will be asked to Resign”.

Yeah – how dare an Ambassador of Pakistan actually do something without the express permission of the military.

Is this letter more damaging than finding OBL in military base? Why is all well on that front and nobody is ever punished?

My question to audience here. How many believe Mansoor Ijaz told correct?
If he did, then also believe in his allegations against ISI.
Why we are so choosy in abusing and hatred and forgets the facts.
If Manssor even claimed and Mullan admitted; does it mean that Zardari and Haqqani did it?
Then why we dont admit, US allegations on Pakistan’s harbouring of terrorists; because it is also from the same alrighty US?

For God sake, grow up and try to start thinking in positive direction.

This is a sad day for democracy and a huge win for the establishment. Ambassador Haqqani was one of our best ambassadors and really fought hard to make Pakistan’s case in the highly charged environment in Washington. Especially post 02 may 2011, when the Pakistani establishment was caught red handed with Osama Bin Laden, he did a terrific job pleading Pakistan’s case in the hostile environment. Not only case of Osama Bin Laden but several times he cleared the mess created by Pakistan. He was the man who knew all the pros and cons of diplomacy and doing a tremendous job for his country. By removing such genius and professional people, we will just have slug in the bottom that would neither benefit establishment nor Pakistan.Recommend
