Four new Supreme Court judges take oath

ISLAMABAD:

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudry administered the oath taking ceremony of four new judges to the Supreme Court on Thursday.


Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed has also taken oath as the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.


The judges who have been appointed include Justice Ejaz Afzal, Justice Chaudhry Ejaz Ahmad, Justice Athar Saeed and Justice Gulzar Ahmad.


The ceremony took place in the Supreme Court building in Islamabad.


The ministry of law and justice has issued a notification to this effect as well after President Asif Ali Zardari accorded the final approval.


Meanwhile, the Punjab Governor Latif Khosa has also administered an oath to Justice Shaikh Azmat Saeed as Lahore High Court Chief Justice.



Meanwhile senior judge of Peshawar High Court, Justice Shah Jahan has resigned in reation to appointment of Justice Dost Mohammad as Chief Justice.



Justice Shah Jahan says the appointment is in complete ignorance of seniority.
