The meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, began with a six-point agenda.
Gilani, during the meeting, expressed dissatisfaction over the scenario created by former senior Sindh minister Zulfiqar Mirza by saying that his statements gave the anti-Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) elements a chance to rally against the party.
He said that the current government is working on a democratic basis and was elected by the people of Pakistan, and no party can topple the government.
The cabinet also discussed possible campaigning of PTI and PML-N against the ruling PPP.
PML-N and PTI both held rallies in Lahore in the month of October this year. The agenda of PML-N's rally was 'Go, Zardari, Go' in efforts to topple the government, while PTI leader Imran Khan called for a political 'tsunami' in the country.
The cabinet approved Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) for electricity import from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan during the meeting.
Government officers present in the meeting were excused after discussions were completed and cabinet members then began an in-camera sitting.
The cabinet discussed the political situation in the country and the resignation of former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
The prime minister and federal ministers exchanged views on the allegations being leveled against the cabinet.

Well the PML-N and PTI should hold jalsas on every 11-daily basis and should concentrate only on Punjab and KP,as they are the top 2 provinces of Pakistan. That's the only way people will rise up here in Pakistan for revolution and change. Secondly, the federal cabinet discussing political strategies, ridiculous.
no use commenting coz lot of these clean if any ministers are going to join pti, therefore don't waste time just concentrate on how to make money.
After living with their dysfunctional behavior for so many years, there guys have become invested in defending their dysfunctions rather than changing them.Politions ride to and fro upon tigers of this country which they dare not dismount. And the tigers are getting hungry.
What? The cabinet is going to discuss how to counter PPP's political rivals? Is this what they are getting paid for? Securing their seats? or to run the damn country? More signal than anything that all of these people need to GO. I've never seen any other Prime Minister in the world indulge in petty party-level politics as much as Gilani. Tells you where his priorities are.
It seems our cabinet has left nothing to do for its countrymen. Dirty politics, Pakistani style...
