QUETTA: Government teachers set up a hunger strike camp outside the Quetta Press Club on Tuesday to press the government to fulfil their demands.

Teachers from Kalat, Sibi, Ziarat, Loralai and other parts of the province also joined the procession. The Government Teachers Association (GTA) Balochistan in its press release said that the government had acknowledged the demands which comprise 20 points but official notification is yet to be issued.

“We were told that our demands were fulfilled but we still haven’t received an official notification in this connection,” they said.

Their main demands include restructuring of teachers’ time scale, no cut in their conveyance allowance and appointment of senior officials in administration.
