FAISALABAD: Hundreds of labourers staged a sit-in protest outside the district council against skyrocketing prices on Saturday. Labourers from Jhang Road, Sudhar, Faizabad, Sheikhupura Road and other industrial areas reached the zilla council and shouted slogans against the price hike and unemployment. Protesters said that the electricity, gas and yarn crises had devastated several industries and the closure of factories had left thousands of labourers unemployed. “Hundreds of people have been turned out of jobs and given the the rate of rising prices it has become impossible to sustain our families,” a protester Rahman said. The protesters also demanded that cases filed against labour union leaders be revoked as soon as possible.
