The incident took place in the Dhandao Poll area near Peer Qalla checkpost on Saturday.
“The bomb was a remote-controlled device planted in the mud,” said DSP Zahir Shah Khan while speaking to The Express Tribune.
“This police post is manned by our men during the day-time to keep a check on the traffic close to the tribal belt,” he added.
The killed policeman was identified as head constable Muhammad Ayaz while the injured was identified as Fazal Rahein, said the official.
The areas close to the tribal region have often been the target of violence. More than 90 people were killed in twin suicide attacks on the Frontier Constabulary, previously in Shabqadar, most of whom were fresh recruits on their way home.

This latest attack joins the long list of Taliban crimes aimed at destabilizing the great nation of Pakistan. Their attempts to overthrow the government are quite evident with a series of attacks against the government officials. Just recently, we witnessed the killing of a 35 year old Police officer, Syed Ajmir Shah, the SHO of a Risalpur police station who was on the Taliban hit-list for gaining fame for his efforts against the militants. This latest attack once again reminds us that these terrorists will not stop unless met with steadfast resistance.
The need to act fast is at an all-time high, and the government of Pakistan has the full support of the US in countering this threat. The US realizes the importance of a stable Pakistan for the sake of stabilizing the region. At the same time, both nations are well aware of the benefits of working side by side and achieving the common objectives. Those who continue to focus on conspiracy theories and speak against our alliance should remember that the terrorists view us as a common threat and wish to see us turn on each other. Our combined efforts have resulted in some of their top leaders being captured or killed. Together we have achieved great results, and together we can eliminate this threat once and for all.
The talibs are like a brickwall. Hit them down as hard as you can but they will keep coming back. Ya Allah Khair.
