Flood relief: Sanghar to receive Pakistan Cards

HYDERABAD: The coveted ‘Pakistan Cards’ have finally begun to trickle into ill-fated Sanghar. Rescue and relief work started late in the flood-ravaged cotton hub of Pakistan. Cards will be distributed among 332,000 families in a 2.5-month period. The deputy commissioner of Sanghar, Ghulam Hyder Mangrio, inaugurated the distribution on Thursday. The union councils will receive the cards one after the other until February 2. The district has over 360,000 acres of cultivated land. The district government estimates the number of displaced families is over 360,000 with 139,635 people living at relief camps when the situation was at its worst.
