LAHORE: The Lahore High Court issued notice to the federal government for November 20 on a petition challenging the appointment of Akhtar Buland Rana as auditor general of Pakistan. The government did not respond to the notice that asked for a reply by November 10. According to the petitioner, Rana should not have been appointed AG as there were “serious allegations” against him of sexual harassment and corruption. He said the federal government wanted Rana as AG as he would help “cover up its corruption”. He noted that Supreme Court Chief Justice had written to President Zardari expressing concern at Rana’s appointment.
