Swiss food festival: Gourmet food from land of chocolates

Delicacies and souvenirs to be put up for sale, proceeds will go to charity.

The Swiss Food Festival 2011 is being hosted by the embassy of Switzerland on November 19. The event will offer an array of authentic Swiss delicacies and specialities.


Various food items such as Raclette (hot, melted cheese from the Alpine valleys, Bratwürste (traditional grilled sausages) will be put up for sale.

The proceeds of food items and souvenirs will go to St Joseph’s Hospice in Rawalpindi. Bündnerfleisch (dried meat from the Grisons), Basebieter Rahmtäfeli (caramel toffees), Swiss chocolates, souvenirs, army knives, watches and other items will also be put up for sale. A lucky draw will also be held and prizes will be announced on the occasion.

A photo exhibition, titled “Swat View Photo Project” will showcase scenic beauty and information about Switzerland.
