The two leaders, who met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, discussed strategic and economic cooperation between their countries.
They discussed matters relating to agriculture, power generation and finance besides reviewing progress on Sino-Pak bilateral ties.
The two sides also discussed the means to carry out communication projects, including railway and road links and fibre optic.
Gilani sought investment from Chinese companies in different areas and stressed the need for making efforts to realise the full potential of bilateral trade.
Wen assured Gilani of China’s commitment to further strengthening relations with Pakistan in all fields.
Both leaders were of the view that the two nations were against terrorism and would continue to cooperate with each other to eliminate this threat.
Gilani said it was time to address the global economic crisis and find a way to counter its impact on growing economies.
During the meeting the two leaders also noted that both Pakistan and China shared similar views on important regional and global issues and would continue to extend support to each other at all levels.
They also agreed to exploit the full potential of the two business communities to boost their economy and trade.

@Peter: Peter to Peter are you me? or my alter-ego? whatever it is, i think there is always a time when values are challenged most ethical people will have to fight un-ethical people, some ethical people will change for want of money or economy or blame circumstances but they are weak... Same goes for Countries, If Aus cant align to Democractic values under pretext of economic sanctions from china and so goes for other Democractic counteries nothing will be as shameful as this... To night fight for Just is just aiding the unjust... age old saying goes... another one from yesteryears, United we stand Divided we fall... Its a reality we live in where Economics and greed is more powerful than humanity and values... But its known whenver evil has stood up its right a Spiderman has come... infact, there is Doctor Octavius in all of us that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride... but i think some counteries are Doc Oct.... haha
@Peter: Being an Aussie and with the same name, I smiled when I read this comment as it expressed my thoughts too!
@antanu g: No Indians are just replying... Indians have moved ahead like our muslims brothers living in india... the problem is pakistan who blames the world for their own mess and phobia... if they had spend just 1% of GDP for the nation since last 60 yrs they would have not be in this positiion.. But they had for 60 yrs spend almost 3.2% average of GDP on military.. which seems pretty bad for the nation dying of hunger... the nation itself was created on jealousy.... so the end seems justify the means
@antanu g: Well attacks like Mumbai 2008, Akshardhan Temple 2002, Indian Parliament 2001 ETC........ Do you blame them for Pak Phobia???? Tell this to the families of the victims !!!!!
@Hedgefunder: but comments from most of my fellow indians confirm that they too are suffering from PAKPHOBIA and that too of highest order
@Drone-Acharya: Its really very simple, they suffer from India Phobia, even with all their nukes!!!!! They really have no chance to compete with India economically, so they decided to start their new little game as to who has more nukes!!! Unfortunately India did not fall for that, and decided to focus on other social and economic issues instead, hence the current position of both the nations born on same day, some 60 odd years ago.
Why is Pakistan so insecure that it needs to beg its "all-weather friend" to give it a security guarantee? Aren't the nukes supposed to do that? What good are those if it still makes a nation insecure? Considering that they cost close to a billion dollars a year to maintain !!
great efforts by PM. This is the need of the day to build global relationship with surrounding countries and then onwards. Doesnt matter which govt. does that, its good. Certainly there would a lot hurdles from the countries which dont want this economic relation. I wont call this a "block". Such type of collaboration is very normal in Europe.
@Jawad:
real lol lolling, you are upside down, read that in reverse order
@Khalid Ahmed: just because something does not benefit Indian plan to control South Asia its 50s ? LOL
American Plan to make India world power is so BC
Sounds like a pre programmed Writeup.
Can also be reused.
big daddy calls.
Did PM consider asking for a cheque for few billion dollars, or was it too sensitive and perhaps the reply would not have to his liking????
Whats stoping India from not having military and defense exchange with Phillipines, Japan, Vietnam and SKorea? ok count Aus too but its a big sissy
@antanu g
Blocks of nations are so 50's. Why not the whole world as one block?
Countries of the subcontenent must adopted the ways leading to peace and progress. They should rejecte all the powers,adding domination for misleading and misguiding for gaining their designs. Pakistan,no doubt,has great importance in the region.Without its assistance and cooperation no matter,espacially Afghan issue would be resolve. As for as china Pakistan meeting is concrened,it is good step to the right direction. It would compell Americans to bring some changes in their policy have adopted regarding Pakistan and Afghanistan. It is indispensable for the neighboring conutries to save the land for futher bloodshed.It is the only way have expressed by the two countries in the recent meeting.
there should be block of nayions consisting of CHINA..INDIA..RUSSIA..PAKISTAN..IRAN..TURKEY.it will be the most prosperous and powerful entity
