Authorities in Punjab province have imposed a ban on temporary mechanical swings during Eidul Fitr, citing public safety concerns, Express News reported.
The Punjab Home Department stated the decision was made to protect lives, as large crowds, including families and children, are expected to visit recreational sites during the holiday.
A directive has been issued to all deputy commissioners, enforcing the ban across the province.
"Temporary mechanical swings pose a significant safety risk. This measure ensures public safety during Eid festivities," a Home Department spokesperson said.
However, amusement parks, theme parks, and play areas with permanently installed mechanical swings will be allowed to operate, provided they meet safety standards.
Authorities have mandated fitness certificates for all permanent rides, requiring verification from district commissioners to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
To monitor enforcement, a central control room has been set up at the Home Department, operating 24/7 throughout the Eid holidays. Senior officials will oversee security and implementation efforts to maintain order.
