FAISALABAD:

Sunni Ittihad Council chairman Sahibzada Fazle Kareem said on Thursday that judiciary was free today due to the lawyers’ struggle. He said political parties did not have a role in reinstating the chief justice.

He said people were now looking towards judges to ensure supremacy of law.

He said his party supported Faisalabad lawyers’ demand for a High Court bench. Karim earlier criticised the Peoples Party workers for holding Tahafuz-e-Zardari (Zardari’s protection) rallies and urged them to instead join religious parties in staging Tahaffuz-e-Risalat rallies.

He said terrorism was spreading because of the patronage terrorist received from politicians who required the former’s loyalties during elections.

A number of lawyers announced their support for the Sunni Ittehad Council on this occasion.
