LAHORE:

Shaikh Zayed Hospital doctors protested on Campus Road on Wednesday, shouting slogans against the Muslim Town police for registering a murder case against three doctors.

The hospital doctors said that they would not work on Thursday if the case isn’t withdrawn.

Talking to The Express Tribune Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore Chapter Dr Tanveer Anwar said that Dr Haroon Majeed, Dr Haroon Dar and Dr Zulfiqar were booked under Section 302 on the application of Shabbir Hussain of Ferozewala, who alleged that his son, Rafique Ijaz had died due to the negligence of the doctors

According to Dr Anwar, Rafique had TB in his intestines. He was brought to Shaikh Zayed Hospital and operated upon. He left the hospital without the doctor’s advice and then came back. “The doctors shouldn’t have taken him back but they showed empathy and readmitted him,” Dr Anwar said.

Office bearers and leaders of the Medical Teachers Association, and the Young Doctors Association, Pakistan also joined the demonstration.
