BULAWAYO:

Martin Guptill’s century put New Zealand in a comfortable position against Zimbabwe in the one-off Test as the visitors reached 275 for three at stumps on the first day.

Guptill scored 109, laced with 11 hits to the fence, before gifting his wicket to Hamilton Masakadza. Ross Taylor remained unbeaten on 76 with Bradley-John Watling unbeaten on 16.

Zimbabwean bowling struggled to create opportunities and were lucky to snare three wickets. Kane Williamson was run out in bizarre fashion, while Brendon McCullum attempted to hook a delivery from Kyle Jarvis and played onto his stumps. A total of five new caps were handed out by both teams in the match.
