QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani had a narrow escape on Saturday when one of the engines of the plane he was flying in caught fire. The plane however managed to land safely.

According to reports, Raisani along with provincial Finance Minister Asim Kur had boarded a plane for Islamabad in order to attend a meeting of the Council of Common Interest but soon after the plane took off from the Quetta airport, the pilot detected a fault in one of the plane’s engines. The engine reportedly caught fire, forcing the pilots to make an emergency landing in Quetta. All passengers including the chief minister were safe.

According to government officials, the matter is being investigated. Also, after hearing the news, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif called his Balochistan counterpart to inquire about his safety.
