LAHORE: The Punjab government will set up four new women universities at a cost of Rs1.5 billion during the current fiscal 2011-12. “The universities will be established in Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan and Bahawalpur districts to provide modern education and research facilities to students,” said Punjab Education Foundation chairman Raja Muhammad Anwar. He said the government attached high priority to the promotion of education. He said a huge amount of Rs13 billion was being spent on various welfare projects aimed at women’s well-being. “It will help women play their role in national development,” he added. Anwar said women teachers had been instructed to give special attention to character building.
