Around 28 men of the Jalbani clan were arrested by the Khairpur police on Sunday with a large quantity of arms in a raid at National Highway. The police intercepted a wagon near the City Bypass after a tip-off. They arrested Mithal, Andal, Ghulam Ali, Naik Muhammad, Azam, Oshaq, Ilyas, Nazir and others. According to the SHO Murtaza Mirani, the police had received information about armed men coming towards Khairpur. Most probably, the men were going to rob passenger coaches, he said. According to him, police recovered six Kalashnikov, a repeater, a rifle, five guns and a sizable amount of bullets and cartridges. However, sources claim that the actually quantity of arms seized is greater. According to them, 10 Klashnikovs, 10 repeaters, 25 pistols, two guns, rifles and many bullets and cartridges were confiscated.
