Asif hits hole-in-one at CNS Golf

KARACHI: Unheralded Muhammad Asif stole the limelight at the CNS Open Golf Championship after firing an amazing hole-in-one as Shabbir Iqbal maintained his lead after the third round at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC) yesterday.

Lahore Gymkhana’s Asif stunned spectators with an accurate shot that gave him a brand new Toyota Altis, the most attractive prize of the tournament, with that shot helping him to finish the day with a par 72.

Meanwhile, Shabbir strengthened his chances of winning the championship by securing a lead of seven after the penultimate round.

Shabbir, who scored 69 in the first and second rounds, ended the day carding a 71 to accumulate an aggregate of 209. Waheed Baloch, with 216, is second on the list and is being closely followed by Muhammad Tariq with 217.

Ali Hai and Muhammad Rehman are leading in the amateur category.
