It all started in the United States in 1984 with TED Talks. The forum established itself as a platform for the most innovative and unusual minds. It wasn't long before the audience was exposed to the likes of Bill Gates, James Cameron and Al Gore.
Four years ago, the conference was launched online via YouTube. Speakers take up to 18 minutes to present their ideas, and explain them further in an interactive session near the end of the event.
TEDx conferences are a regional offshoot, which can be held on city or university levels, after a license.
Last year's TEDx Lahore was the first time the event made it to Pakistan.
